Mt. Airy Beauty

This lovely home is located in Mt. Airy. The client wanted the portrait done pretty large (16" x 20") which I understand why. The house is so lovely with all the detail in the stone, the wood work, and all the landscaping around it. The nice woman and her husband also just had a baby, congratulations!
Below are some detail shots.
The front door is definitely one of my favorite parts of the home.

Springfield Valley

I took a little break from working on house portraits the past couple weeks because I had some other projects on my plate. This rendering is one I just completed for a Realty group. They have major plans to beautify this currently drab apartment building, and make it more appealing to prospective tenants.
Below is my drawing right before I began coloring it. I had to make a couple changes, like taking out the bench on the right so the sign for the apartments could be shown in the grass.
Here is my initial rough sketch just to show the layout and angle of the drawing. The perspective had to be skewed a bit to be able to feature everything new being put in, and so the entryway wouldn't be blocked by the new Crape Myrtles.
I think my favorite part of this project was doing the landscaping.
Drawing plants is fun!

Philadelphia Row Homes Poster

I got this 12" x 18" poster made to sell at my art show I had at Benna's Cafe in December. It features many of the houses I was commissioned to do throughout 2012. They are now for sale here on my Etsy page. I have also been adding prints for sale in my shop, check em out!

house portrait, sort of

This was the email subject line that I received from one of my first private clients this past year. This nice woman wanted a portrait of her beautiful and spacious back yard in New Jersey. It has lots of plants and trees, a greenhouse, and features her two shaggy pups in the foreground. This was a nice change for just doing a straight up house portrait!
Below are some detail shots you can see more things close up!

Here's a photo with the two dogs playing in the garden.

The Walled Garden

This piece was commissioned by my Grandfather who lives in England. I've visited this house many a time with my family. It is located in the Cotswolds in the country side, and the house is called The Walled Garden. When I buy my own home in the future, I plan to carry on the English tradition and name it this same way.
The actual portrait itself is the smallest I've ever done. (8"w x 6"h) because my Grandpa wanted it to fit in a small frame he already had!

Haywood St.

This piece was one I did for my lovely step sister who resides in East Falls, Philadelphia. Admittedly it took me about six months to get this done for her, as I promised it to her on her birthday in the end of May, and have been so busy since then. It ended up being half belated bday present, half christmas present. Everything was colored with pen and marker except for the brick work of the house, which is acrylic paint.

The color blue of the shutters and the molding required a lot of layering but I
think it came out pretty well in the end.
Below is a little detail shot of her cat Phoenix in the window.

13th and Morris

Sigh... I love getting commissions of houses that I well, love. This is one of the giant-porched beauties located on Morris between Broad and 13th Street. I can't imagine how lovely and spacious it is inside. Though I must say making a brown house look nice is a little hard, this was still such a nice project to work on.
